*  The U. S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNC/TAM) seeks proposals to host the 18th U. S. Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 2018. The next Congress (the 17th) will be held at Michigan State University, June 15-20, 2014. Indications of intention to submit a proposal are desired now. Complete proposals are due no later than February 1, 2013. Correspondence before October 31, 2012 should be sent to the USNC/TAM Secretary Carl Herakovich. Beginning Nov. 1, 2012, correspondence should be sent to the new Secretary Linda Franzoni.

*  Nadine Aubry (Carnegie Mellon University), Moshe Matalon (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), John D. Schmisseur (Air Force Office of Scientific Research), John Sullivan (Purdue University), Miguel R. Visbal (Air Force Research Laboratory), and Norman M. Wereley (University of Maryland) were among the AIAA members named to Fellows. See AIAA Fellows.

*  Joan F. Brennecke (University of Notre Dame), Akhil Datta-Gupta (Texas A&M University), and John Hinch (University of Cambridge) were among the new members elected to the National Academy of Engineering. See NAE new Members.
